Vladimir Kadyshevsky (Moscow, USSR, May 5, 1937 – September 24, 2014, Dubna, Russia) was a Soviet and Russian theoretical physicist, a specialist in elementary particle theory and high-energy physics. He was an Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2000; Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 1991). He was a member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a member of the Bureau of the Physical Sciences Division (2002), and Scientific Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR). He led a group of Soviet physicists working at Fermilab (1977-1978). He also supervised the work of JINR scientists on the DELPHI experiment at the LEP accelerator at CERN (1983-1985). Director of the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics at JINR (1987-1992), Director of JINR (1992-2005). Scientific Director of JINR (2006). Foreign member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (2008), the Georgian Academy of Sciences (2002), the Indian National Academy of Sciences (2003), and an honorary member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (2001). For his significant contribution to the development of science and strengthening international scientific and technical cooperation, he was awarded orders and prizes.
